RVIA’s September 2022 survey of manufacturers determined total RV shipments were 28,333 units, a decrease of 48.5% compared with the 55,014 units shipped in September 2021.

Through September 2022, RV shipments are down 8.2% compared with the first nine months of 2021 with 415,594 wholesale shipments.

August 2022

RVIA’s August 2022 survey of manufacturers determined total wholesale RV shipments were 33,783 , a decrease of (-36.0%) compared with the 52,819 units shipped in August 2021.

Through August, RV shipments are down (-2.6%) compared with the first eight months of 2021 with 387,261 wholesale shipments.

July 2022

RVIA’s July 2022 survey of manufacturers determined that total wholesale RV shipments totaled 29,647 units, a decrease of 33.4% compared with the 44,537 units shipped in July 2021.

Through July, 2022, RV shipments are up 2.5% compared with the first seven months of 2022 with 353,478 wholesale shipments.

June 2022

RVIA’s June 2022 survey of manufacturers determined that total RV shipments ended the month with 44,793 units, a decrease of (-11.7%) compared to the 50,796 units shipped in June 2021. This is the first month since May 2020 that year-over-year wholesale shipments are lower than a year ago.

Through June, RV shipments are up 7.8% compared to the same point last year with 323,831 wholesale shipments.

Since March, RV manufacturers have discussed slowing manufacturing to meet declining consumer demand. The latest RVIA wholesale shipment report shows manufacturers’ efforts slowed shipments from the previous month but remain at a record pace.

RVIA’s May 2022 survey of manufacturers determined total RV shipments set a new monthly record for the fifth consecutive month.

The industry ended the month with 50,529 units, RVIA said, the best May on record. Shipments increased 2.6% compared with the 49,241 units shipped during May 2021.

Through the first five months of 2022, RV shipments are up 11.8% compared with the first five months of 2021, a record-setting year for RV wholesale shipments.

“The summer RVing season is off to an incredible start, with millions of Americans heading to their favorite outdoor destination to spend quality time with friends and family,” RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby said. “Thanks to the work of RV manufacturers and suppliers, consumers looking to purchase a new RV have more options to choose from as inventory continues to be rebuilt at RV dealerships across North America.”

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, ended the month up 2.6% compared with May 2021 with 45,608 shipments. Motorhomes finished the month up 3.2% compared with May 2021 with 4,921 units.

RVIA said although shipment results the first five months of the year have been historically strong, the association expects the market to level off from 2021’s record numbers.

The latest 2022 RV Roadsigns forecast projects RV shipments for 2022 to range between 537,800 and 561,900 units with a most likely year-end total of 549,900 units.

To date, RV manufacturers shipped 279,038 units the first five months of 2022, an average of 55,808 a month.

To reach the expected 549,900 level, manufacturers would have to slow production to ship 270,862 RVs the remaining seven months of the year, an average of 38,695 a month.

Statistical Surveys Inc. reported 152,883 retail registrations through April 2022. In that same time, RVIA reported RV manufacturers shipped 228,509 RVs.

April 2022

RV manufacturers slowed the pace of shipments in April, according to the RVIA. Still, the industry’s April wholesale RV shipments broke the record for most April shipments in industry history by 11.5%

RVIA reported April wholesale RV shipments totaled 57,043, up 11.5% from April 2021’s 51,813, the previous record for April shipment.

Shipments fell 13% from the single-month record of 64,454 reported in March 2022.

Through April, RV shipments are up 14.1% compared with the first four months of 2021 with 228,509 shipments.

“RVing remains a great travel option for people looking to experience the freedom of travel while also providing them greater control over travel costs,” RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby aid. “This latest shipment report shows more RVs are headed to dealer lots to provide consumers with a variety of options as they look to enjoy the great outdoors and go RVing this summer.”

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, rose 11.5% compared with April 2021 with 52,151 shipments. Motorhome shipments fell 3.2% from April 2021 with 4,892 shipments.

March 2022

RVIA reported March’s wholesale RV shipments set a single-month industry record, pushing the first quarter to record-high levels as well.

RVIA’s March 2022 survey of manufacturers determined total RV shipments ended the month with 64,454 units, an increase of 18.7% compared with the 54,291 units shipped during March 2021.

Through March, RV shipments are up 15.5% against the same point last year, totaling 171,466 wholesale shipments.

Record shipments aligns with the RV RoadSigns forecast, prepared by ITR Economics, that reported Inventory restocking by dealers and continued consumer interest will boost shipments in the first half of the year.

“Summer Is just around the corner and our RV manufacturers and suppliers have worked to ensure consumers have a variety of RVs to choose from on dealer lots,” RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby said. “More people than ever before are prioritizing their physical and mental wellbeing by living the active outdoor lifestyle that is synonymous with RVing.”

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, ended the month up 19.5% against last March with 58,902 shipments. Motorhomes finished the month up 11.3% compared with the same month last year with 5,552 units.

February 2022

RVIA’s February 2022 manufacturer survey determined total RV shipments ended the month with 53,722 units. The total increased 11.3% compared with the 48,286 units shipped during February 2021.

The 53,722 shipments mark the highest February total in industry history, topping February 2021’s previous record.

Through February, RV shipments are up 13.6% compared with the first two months of 2021, with 107,012 wholesale shipments.

“Our latest shipment report shows the RV industry is continuing its strong start to 2022,” RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby said. “While the pandemic has had an impact on people’s desire to purchase an RV, our data shows the increased interest in RVing is being driven by changing attitudes around the increased importance consumers are placing on the health benefits of getting outdoors. We expect this trend towards an active outdoor lifestyle to continue into the foreseeable future, which bodes well for the RV industry.”

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, increased 10.9% compared with February 2021 with 48,220 shipments.

Motorhomes finished the month up 14.5% compared with the same month last year with 5,502 units.

Park Model RVs ended the month down (-17.2%) compared withFebruary 2021 with 309 wholesale shipments.

January 2022

Results for the RV Industry Association’s January 2022 survey of manufacturers found a total of 53,290 RV shipments, the best January on record.

This was also an increase of 16.0% compared with the 45,930 units shipped during January 2021, the previous January record.

Craig Kirby, RVIA president and CEO, said manufacturers and suppliers demonstrated their preparedness to meet consumer demand in 2022.

“With spring just around the corner, consumers are looking to RVs as an ideal way to take advantage of the mental and physical health benefits of living an active outdoor lifestyle,” Kirby said, “and our manufacturers and suppliers are prepared to meet this ongoing demand for RVs.”

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, ended the month up 17.3% against last January with 48,565 wholesale shipments.

Motorhomes finished the month up 4.6% compared with the same month last year with 4,725 units.
