NIO plans to invest nearly 220 million yuan to build a lithium-ion battery laboratory and a battery cell trial production line in Shanghai.

In order to meet the market demand for new energy vehicles, NIO plans to invest 218.5 million yuan to build a new research and development project in Anting Town, Jiading District, Shanghai. The project includes the construction of 31 R&D laboratories, as well as a lithium-ion battery cell prototype line and a battery pack line.

According to the public information released by the environmental information disclosure platform of Shanghai enterprises and institutions on May 23, the new research and development project of Shanghai NIO Automobile Co., Ltd. is being publicized before the environmental impact report form is submitted for approval.

According to the public information, in order to meet the market demand for new energy vehicles, NIO Motor plans to invest 218.5 million yuan to build a new research and development project in Anting Town, Jiading District, Shanghai.

The project includes the construction of 31 R&D laboratories, as well as a lithium-ion battery cell trial production line and a battery pack line, and is expected to be under construction from August to October this year.

Among them, the laboratory is mainly engaged in the research and development of lithium-ion batteries and battery packs. The R&D laboratory aims to explore the charge and discharge performance, temperature performance, safety performance, etc. of the battery cell and the battery pack under various physical experimental conditions such as temperature, tension and humidity of the lithium-ion battery cell and the battery pack, and to explore the physical and chemical properties, proportion, modification of the battery material, the optimization conditions for liquid injection, and the optimization conditions for battery packaging, etc., and is expected to engage in research and development for about 250 days a year.

The construction of the trial production line is intended to be a preliminary exploration of possible large-scale production in the subsequent development process, and the trial production samples are used for subsequent in-depth development.
